This filter does a decent job but I find that after just 3 months I need to order a new one (I start waking up with a sore throat which is how I always know its time...and I live in a very clean home with only 1 pet -- a cat). I can't believe this is $90-100. It makes me wish I never purchased this air purifier to begin with.I love my Coway HEPA filter system but the high cost for replacement medium is always concerning. This set is week priced and gives another year of comfort.This is 2nd set of replacement filters i have purchased.The original filters that was included when i purchased this machine lasted me just under a year at setting 3 opearting 24/7/365..then i purchased replacment filter (generic brand) that cost around $30 on amazon as the OEM was selling around $100. At that time, i compared the original with the $30 generic filter and noted that the carbon ( black portion) was very sparse, each honeycomb was not tightly packed with carbon particles like the original that came with the machine so the light shines right through the carbon section. The $30 generic filter also triggered the replacement light in about 2 months. same setting 3 opearting 24/7/365.. but i continue to use this same generic filter for about a year but regularly vacuuming the black side.Now i am ready to order my 2nd set of replacemnt filter. i go and order and i see the generic price is now increased to around $50. remembering that the generic's carbon side is so much more sparse than the OEM and this OEM is only +$30 more than the generic so i opted to purchase the OEM at higher price $80 expecting a higher quality denser packed carbon side.SHOCKINGLY when i received this OEM coway filter, it was EQUALLY SPARSE as my last year's $30 generic version! NOw my conclusion is, either a) these are falsely advertised as OEM or b) Coway has downgrade their quality.Either way, I am not happy. Originally i thought carbon side was not a big deal as that is mainly for odor. However, I managed to dissect, cut open, and take apart the $30 generic filter and i notice that because the carbon side is so sparse that massive amount of dust gets pass the carbon side and reachese the green hepa filter side. This explains why my $30 generic filter triggered the replacement light so quickly ( after only around 2 months) it is because the massive amount dust clogged up the layer of hepa filter.I am no longer confident with AMAZON for OEM products.I had no issues replacing the filter on my Coway. I liked that the filter fit perfectly and is exactly like the one that came with the machine. I haven't replaced it in a year and a half of having the machine (my first Coway) and the light just came on to replace the filter. I've been regularly cleaning the mesh filter every time that light goes on. You press and hold the lit Wash icon to reset the special timer on the Wash lights.Pros to using this replacement: It doesn't void the warranty on the machine. It is fully tested with the machine so you know it won't damage it. It is clearly the same item so you know the quality and can compare the old one with the new one and see it really is kind of worn after a year and half of working. I know it fits and no air is getting through the filter on the sides, like I saw happens for some third party filters.Cons to using this replacement: It is very expensive! If you are replacing this more often than I am, it is going to cost a lot.I was going to buy a cheaper option, but when I thought about how expensive the machine was to begin with, I figured why would I go with a cheaper filter now and make that whole purchase pointless?! Just my thoughts anyway!I was a little shocked when Amazon pulled up with this huge box. This air cleaner is the size of a small end table. the good thing is that the intake is from the sides and the exhaust is from the top, so you can put it up against a wall. Very quick and easy to install. Change the outer filters frequently. You will be amazed how much dust gets trapped in those filters. Be careful when you pull them out to clean them. You can shake the dust off fairly easily. I run the filters under the kitchen sink weekly. The HEPA filter cartridges are also easy to install but very expensive. They only need to be changed twice a year (depending on your usage and how dusty your home is). This is an expensive air cleaner that is fairly quiet on low settings. If you crank it up to a high setting, it is pretty loud.
